NAME DROPPING
After reading comments from so many others on all of these blogs - I am propelled onto Memory Lane...here a some scenes from along the journey so far:
BSU/BCM -
1994 - Just started working there - prayed that God would bring me 10-15 freshman to the "Leadership Mtg." God sent 25-30 Had to go get more tacos! Freshmen picked M&M's and had to tell something about themselves depending on the color they picked. Eric G. stands and says - 'I've been witnessing to people with my Youth Minister and that's what I intend to do here, anybody want to go with me - you're welcome to come'. Everyone found their place of service and the growth began!!
* Being PAGED at Wal-Mart only to find a group of laughing Freshman girls at the Information Desk led by one Jessica B. smiling & so proud of herself. :)
* Gabe & Eric in a talent(?) show rubbing peanut butter all over themselves - even under their armpits!!
* Mission '95 - hearing Lance B's family stories - one involving ending up at 6-Flags barefooted because his Dad so quickly got ALL of the family in the station wagon so fast he forgot them - so he had to run from grass patch to grass patch to keep his feet from burning. He also told us, while driving to Kentucky, that, in TEXAS if you stayed on those little road bumps on the side of the highway long enough it would play "The Yellow Rose of Texas". LOL!!! Then
Eric M.'s imitations - "There'll be no drinkin' ahh hah, there'll be no smokin' ahh hah..." I remember laughing so hard at their stories that I just had to lay over on the couch - all ability to sit up was gone.
John Sch. & Lance entertaining us at our Homecoming Dance (or some banquet). They took the stage in a make-believe car and that was all it took! Absolutely priceless, hilarious entertainment.
Lane, Sheldon - Sr's who stayed faithful and helped build the BSU involvement by example. Not to mention how many wanted to marry them!!
Nathan Sch., Jason M. and the Freshman Council that year - building a run-through for me during Chapel time. (yes, I did run through it)
OH and the love stories!!! No one faint, I am not going to name names here. BUT - One day 3 different guys came into my office (at 3 different times) professing their love for the same girl. And wanting to know if they should tell her.
....don't even ask!!
But, I must say to the girls - A guys heart is as vulnerable as yours. You may not have seen that, yet, but it is.
Chris B., Matt L. & John Sch.'s & others - black light "RAVE" house party. The police came because neighbors complained of music too loud. Guess who was running the music??? AHHHHHHH -ME!! It was a first for me - never IN MY LIFE had the police been called to a party I was attending. I think we had to move the couches & tiki torches out of the front yard, too. hahaahha
MERIDA!! The Yucatan ...
I'll have to have a sequel - am headed to have lunch with Stacy & Jessica - ya'll come!

John and I just sat here and laughed, those were the days! And you KNOW that we are all wondering......
John - you KNOW your stories are coming soon. I've not forgotten about 'ole Blue!! :)
Mrs. Kathy...it's okay. You can tell everyone that the guys were lining up in your office wondering if I would go out with them!!
That's too funny. Matt has a video (almost said dvd) of his family group and John S. was in it. Oh my gosh! It's hilarious! The video was definitely corny, but is so funny. I think the guys even got stuck in the mud!!
Shandra - it could have been you...i'll never tell. We have the video from "story time" at Mission '95, too. How fun would a video party be!!! Bring whatever you have and just watch all night long. I'll need to bring oxygen I'm sure.
That's too funny!! :)
Those were good times. Still to this day when I drive over the bumps I think of the Yellow Rose of Texas and you and Lance. You were convinced it was true...
