I'd Like to Give a Shout-Out to..

Sandy Allen - my precious friend of many, many years for riding with me to Lindale, Texas to attend the Women's Retreat where I was speaking. Surely you've heard me talk enough! For encouraging me, for having tissue ready for me and a water bottle ready for when my throat was about to give out, for riding with me to Wal-Mart at 11:00 pm so I could get a new outfit to replace the one i FORGOT to bring for the second day of the retreat without shaming me or rebuking me for my continued ineptness in travel planning. For being so easy to travel with and talk to and just be silent with as well...especially for letting me keep the air conditioner on COLD!

Coreen Renshaw - my friend whom I still grieve over for not being here in Ruston, but cherish every time we can visit, no matter how brief. For coming to the retreat as well - For even being the one who gave the coordinator of the retreat my name in the first place! Thank you for trusting me, even though you know me - the strengths and the weaknesses. For listening to me speak like you really expect to learn something new, for laughing when I was trying to be funny (and even when I WASN'T) :) For also going to Wal-Mart at 11:00pm and helping me find clothes, shoes AND earrings to wear - though insisting NO ONE would notice if I wore the same thing again the next day, that I wore that night !! For treating people the way Jesus wants us to, and for having order in your life that I can learn from.

Stacy Colvin - for coming to the retreat just to see us "old school" friends and being there when I taught. I still wish you were sitting in my sunday school class! Thanks for being faithful, and taking the time out of a great weekend with your dear friend from Fort Worth to come see us at Women's Retreat. Your kindness has made me feel as though I could teach for 10 more years and never get tired of watching College Students grow up. How wonderful to see you become independant, Godly young adults who still love the church and still take a little time for their old sunday school teachers!

Meg Mitchell Sanks - for coming with Stacy to the retreat even though it took time away from ya'lls big TYLER plans, for laughing at my stories, (I know ya'll were all laughing AT me and not WITH me some of the time - so don't even try to tell me otherwise!) :) , for giving me wardrobe tips and making me think my Wal-Mart outfit was cutting edge and the sequin shoes were the thing to have. (I still would love to have the "Jason H" deal some time). For being so fun to have around and for just coming to be with us - I am still humbled, truly, that ya'll would go out of your way a little bit to visit with us. I will treasure that gift a long time.

"For grace, and joy, and laughter, too
I'm grateful to God to have shared them with you.
When schedules are harsh and life flies by,
I stop now and then and just wonder why.
Though time marches on, and change comes about,
some things are certain & for this I've no doubt.
When friends share their heart, their soul and their time,
I just thank my Savior that these friends are mine."

Hi Mrs. Kathy! It's Tracy Skinner Steiner... I just wanted to say hello! I will FOREVER miss hearing you speak. You are so wonderful and I just miss being around your encouraging spirit. I will never forget the Bible verse you always started out with... For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Heb. 4:12. Thank you.

Mrs. Kathy - i talked to Meg Saturday morning while she was driving to see you and Stacy. How i wished i was with her!! i miss your sweet spirit and precious words from the teaching podium!! And i have to say, like Tracy - i can hear you reciting Hebrews 4:12...it has become one of my favorites - even though many times it haunts me (or should i say "convicts") me when my heart's attitude just isn't what it should be. love you.

Girls! What a wonderful word of encouragement. I, too, fell in love with that verse because of someone else always starting his sermon with it. I still use it to this day! I would SO love to see you both!

Mrs. Kathy- It was an absolute treat to see you on Saturday. Thanks for the sweet comments on your blog.(Maybe one day I'll get a blog of my own!) I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It made me miss those days of college Sunday School but made me so grateful for the times that we all shared!

I loved hearing you speak again! It ALWAYS makes me double over with laughter! (and yes, I probably was laughing AT you some of the time!) Thanks for letting us crash you retreat!

Old friends are the best. I was able to spend a few hours with Jolie Mizell & her little girl Kathryn this morning! Also, I had another Katie spotting this weekend. I spoke to her briefly last night at CLC. I was able to introduce her to my Jolie.

Megan - I am so glad Katie got to meet little Jolie. She called on her way home and said she loved the buildings they constructed & especially getting to see them actually carried off & heading to the New Orleans area.

Mrs. Kathy... Your teaching, coaching and mentoring will never get old or boring or unentertaining. That is the amazing thing about how God set up the idea of mentoring. We know that you have been where we are about to go... That is a compliment... Because we choose to hear it from you!!! Love you
