Time Flies
Because I have loved seeing all of your children and reading their stories of life and learning,
because I love seeing and reading about your passion for the children God has placed in your life,
because you do not take it lightly, but love them with reckless abandon,
because you take the funny videos and pictures and use the really silly voices to communicate with them, I have felt this overwhelming sense of how fast time really does fly. Yes, it is an old saying - but trust me - it seems more true now than ever before.
I have these two wonderful girls. They have been this great and wonderful adventure since God gave them to me. So maybe I just needed to remind you all that have little ones now.
Relax - stop doing so much stuff ...
and rock them a little longer,
comb their hair a few more times,
take them outside barefooted anytime you can,
throw the ball just a few more times,
clap for them every time you can,
let them wear the tutu to sunday school, let him wear the helmet, too!
Laugh with them more,
listen to their stories like no one else is in the room,
sing to them, with them & for them,
make sure they know as many of their relatives as they can,
dance with them longer or start doing it if you haven't,
play the game one more time,
always have bubble bath,
give them the full strength coca-cola every now and then,
let them hear you pray for them,
tell them they are great, smart, handsome or beautiful
and have a purpose in this life.
Say the words "I love you" with every breath you have.
Then, maybe, just maybe - when they are older, and the issues of life become more complex and adult-like, they will know & believe that Jesus is the pursuer of their hearts and loves them more than anything because you have done so already.

It's not about perfect parenting, it's about a perfect pattern - the one set by our Savior. "Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."

That was really sweet. Being a parent is such a priviledge. I was laughing at the BCM this morning as Jolie was playing with an Evangecube & one our students was sharing the Gospel with her. I pray that she understands it is the BEST story in the world & one that will change her life for eternity. I am glad God has entrusted Jolie to me. Also, we take our shoes off before we go outside!

I hope those 2 know just how blessed they are, to have two of the most Godliest parents ever. I hope that the love you and mr. rick have lavished on your girls is just spilling over onto all those they come into contact with. They have been an absolute blessing in my life, even willing to bail me out of jail! : ) (ask katie!)
Winter - I'm scared to ask about the "bailing you out" story. Hopefully, it was the charity event our lovely town has each year. Oh, and by the way, Mom said the couch deal was a good possibility. See ya soon!
oh, my katie sue and lisa ellon have grown up so much!!! i can still remember katie sue and megan pearce in my cabin at g.a. camp when they were in the fifth grade. it's been eleven years since then...
we've all always known how special those two were. not just because they had two of the most incredible parents on the face of the earth, but also because of their precious spirit.
These girls are beautiful, and I know that I was blessed by our Savior to witness with all the senses you and Ricky growing these girls up. I loved and appreciate how you opened your home to us. I will never forget-you living room, sunny afternoon, telling me about the interesting conversations you had had with the girls and some very specific reading material-that you know my momma did not walk me through. Probably the first time I heard about any of it, was that day on your couch. Are you jiven' with me?
Oh yes Angie - I am soooo remembering said book. I seem to recall that I did not handle it too maturely myself - you know some parts just don't need names. You should just discreetly point toward that part or use the more...uhh...hmmm...pleasant, non-threatening names.
Is that the book you remember? lol
thx for a great post mrs. kathy... i needed to hear much of that! brooklyn, my 2-wk old, is in my arms right now (thus no cap letters) and i needed the reminder that its ok to just sit and hold her even though so much around this house is waiting on me to get done!
Kathy - your girls are such beautiful young women! Thanks for lunch, I had a great time. It is always fun to share laughs with you! I hope we can do it again sometime soon!
