Reunited...and it Feels So Good!

If you didn't begin to sing a song after hearing this title....well you're probably not as old as I am. But the "reunion" I am speaking of is not the same as the song anyway.

My trip to Brookwood in a nearby city was absolutely amazing. I knew there were some of my former students who attended there, but I had no idea if they would get to be at the Bible study I was leading. WELL - was I in for the sweetest surprise!

First, in walks Jennifer Attaway - she just graduated in May and we already miss her so very much - How it just thrilled my soul to get to study the Word with her one more time. She will be getting married in 2 weeks.
then -
Kelly Marbry - fresh from having a new baby and looking as cute as ever, walks in and I am stunned and thrilled to see her! Her smile as gentle as it always was.
Then she informs me that some others are coming, and in walks...
Jolie Mizel - with her precious self and still has a laugh that lights up a room! I bet she can still do a back flip just like she taught one of my girls!
then came -
Heather Newton - yep - looking just like she did as a freshmen in college. She reminded me of making her blush in some of our more "open" discussions in Bible study and even blushed this time when I told her I thought her hubby looked like JFK, Jr. in his "bicycle-man" feature in the paper. (I wish I could tell you what she said to that...but discretion is in order here)
and then
Betsy Phillips - probably one of the most encouraging people I know. She has this wonderful child-like faith, just as in the days when she sat in my college sunday school class with her boyfriend she'd had from high school - now her sweet husband.

and they all introduced me to Tiffany - their new friend from LSU - so I wanted to give a shout out to her to! You're in good company, girl!

Truly - I kept having this overwhelming urge to just cry! My heart was so overcome with sentiment and joy and pride and thankfulness for having known each of these girls who have become such Godly women.
Their faithfulness to church during their college days was a testimony
of their walk with Christ.
Their choice of husbands (and I know ALL of them!) is also a testimony of their committment to a standard set by the Lord himself.
And here they all were together - still serving the Lord, still wanting to do something great for the Kingdom of God, and still desiring to hear God speak!

To each of you girls - Jennifer, Betsy, Heather, Kelly & Jolie
THANK YOU
for the encouragement your presence brought to my life,
for staying the course on this spiritual journey, and for
"not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together, as some are in the habit of doing."
YOU have made me a better teacher -

Notice that my comment is the only one that you had to censor...some things never change. Tonight the girls and I were talking, and we agreed you gave us a nice piece of spiritual steak. We love ya. Thank you.

Well, we all agree that we need to see you more often! Thursday night was such a blessing! I couldn't stop telling Clay how great it was to get to see you, hear what God gave you for us, and visit with you afterwards. We love you and hope to see you again soon!

Mrs. Kathy
I can not tell you how much I appreciate seeing you. As a was driving home all of these "truths" you taught me were coming back to me. You were also very encouraging at a time when it was greatly needed. I really love you and will continue to pray for your ministry.

Mrs. Kathy,

I commented back to you on my blog, but was not sure if you would get to read it. Yes, I am related to Mary, Martha, and Charlotte Borden. They are my dad's first cousins. I haven't seen them in forever but my grandmother told me they were all doing well. Small world.

I am glad you had a good time in Shreveport. You need to make a trip out to DFW. -Meredith

You will never know what an impact you have had on all of our lives! We love you and your teaching and were so blessed by your testimony Thursday. Thanks again for coming!

Funny you mention tumbling with Katie because I have thought so often of how scared to death I was to tumble, but I sucked up and made a bargain with Katie. If she did it, I'd do it. And by George if she didn't do that back handspring and make me hold true to my word - just like Hannah :). I shook for at least an hour afterwards! But you're right, I can still flip - well, at least on the trampline!

love you,
jolie
